Truck Driver Failed to Stop at Stop Sign
The Cherokee County trucking accident took place at about 7:30 a.m. on the morning of January 7, when a transfer truck traveling southbound on Georgia 369/Hightower Road towards the intersection with Georgia 20 failed to stop at the stop sign. According to Tracey Watson, a spokesperson for the Georgia State Patrol, the tractor-trailer entered the intersection and was struck on the left side of its cab by a school bus belonging to the Cherokee County School District, which was traveling westbound on Ga. 20 towards Ga. 369. Following the trucking accident, which is being investigated by the Georgia State Patrol, the driver of the 18-wheeler, identified as 46-year-old Jose Alfaro, was cited for failure to stop at a stop sign and failure to yield at an intersection.
