Truck Driver Attempted Illegal U-Turn
According to police, the deadly Georgia motorcycle accident took place about 9 a.m. at the intersection of Lenox Road and Ferncliff Road in Atlanta. The truck driver, identified as Eugene Holmes, was reportedly traveling southbound in the far right lane of Lenox Road when he attempted to make an illegal U-turn in the middle of the intersection, across all lanes of traffic. The motorcycle rider, 46-year-old Derek Davis, was also traveling southbound on Lenox Road, and as he attempted to avoid a collision with the turning semi-truck, his bike skidded 165 feet before crashing into the trailer section of Holmes’ truck.
Following the GA motorcycle wreck, Davis was transported in grave condition to Grady Memorial Hospital, where the Atlanta Police Department reports he died just before noon that same day. Davis, director of IT Services at Carter & Associates, a real estate, investment, development and advisory firm with headquarters in Atlanta, will be remembered by his co-workers as a dependable employee and valued colleague with an infectious smile.
