Pedestrian Accidents Across Georgia
On October 16, a female pedestrian was struck by a school bus near the intersection of West Jones and West Boundary Streets in Savannah, Georgia, in the vicinity of Garrison Elementary School and Savannah College of Art and Design student housing. The victim of the GA pedestrian accident was a college student, according to Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department spokesperson Julian Miller, and she was transported to the hospital with unknown injuries following the accident.
Just two weeks later, another student was struck by a vehicle while walking to school in North Columbus, GA, and police say the driver of the car that struck the high school student, identified as Britt Schaaf, was only 16 years old. Schaaf, a freshman and member of the baseball team at Shaw High School in Columbus, was reportedly transferred to the intensive care unit at an area hospital in unsatisfactory condition.
On October 29, a teenage girl was struck by a vehicle in a northeast Atlanta pedestrian accident that took place shortly before 8 a.m., at the intersection of Cheshire Bridge and Lavista roads in Atlanta. According to police, the 16-year-old student ran out in front of the car that struck her while trying to catch a bus, and after the accident, she was taken to a nearby hospital with a broken ankle.
Just today, one lane of Old McDuffie Road in Richmond County, Georgia was blocked off following an accident in which a pedestrian walking down Old McDuffie was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Kenny Road. EMS and officers responded to the Georgia pedestrian accident just before 5:15 a.m., and less than two hours later, another Richmond County pedestrian accident was reported in the area of Metcalf Street and Fenwick Street.
