Driver Attempted Illegal Turn

According to police, the deadly motorcycle accident took place at about 9 a.m. on the morning of September 19, as Tarczewski, his wife and another couple were riding their motorcycles on Victory Drive in Columbus, GA. Tarczewski’s wife, Lynn, said the motorcycle accident was caused by Hunt, who reportedly attempted to make a left-hand turn at a red light. Hunt’s white minivan then collided with Tarczewski’s motorcycle, just as he had started moving through the intersection. “I laid my bike down to go and get to him,” said Lynn Tarczewski. “My friend that was behind me, he laid his bike down. We knew it was bad.”

Driver May Have Been on Cell Phone

Police later learned that Hunt’s minivan dragged Tarczewski for about 75 feet before finally stopping, and when one of the riders accompanying the Tarczewski’s ran to check on his friend, he noticed that the driver was on her cell phone. “We were both sitting at the green light coming out of the hotel,” said Lynn Tarczewski. “We had to pull out onto Victory Drive to get into the right-hand lane. There were two cars in the turning lane and there was the lady that hit him. They stopped at the red light. She didn’t.” When Tarczewski was pulled out from underneath Hunt’s minivan, his breathing was labored and then stopped completely, forcing those on the scene to perform CPR until first responders arrived.
