Two people were killed in an early-morning car accident in Newton County, Georgia earlier this month, and police believe alcohol may have been a factor in the crash. Two Killed, Three Injured in I-20 Wreck

The deadly Georgia car accident took place at about 3:30 a.m. on November 10, in the southbound lanes of Interstate-20 in Newton County. According to the Georgia State Patrol, a 2013 Chevrolet Sonic ran out of gas and was stopped on the shoulder of the highway. The driver of a 1997 Toyota Camry had stopped to offer assistance to the stranded vehicle and was parked in the right travel lane when a 2004 Jeep driven by 28-year-old Kevin Poynter rear-ended the Camry and sideswiped the Chevrolet. The pedestrian standing between the two vehicles was killed in the collision and a passenger in the Camry also died at the scene. Alcohol is suspected as a contributing factor in the fatal car accident, and charges are pending against Poynter.
