Worker Knocked 44 Feet to the Ground

According to Christopher Wheeler’s mother, Susan, the 27-year-old often contracted his time to tree service companies, since he had always loved being outdoors. “They would call him periodically to help out with a job,” Susan said following Christopher’s on-the-job death. “He had been doing this for about a year, off and on.” Unfortunately, Christopher’s tree service assignment on October 5 proved to be his last. While cutting off the top section of a tree in Baldwin County, Georgia, a piece of the tree fell on top of him and knocked him 44 feet to the ground. The young man was rushed to the Medical Center of Central Georgia, where he was classified as a level-one trauma due to his internal injuries. Christopher died from his injuries on October 7.
