Teen Driver Running from Police
According to investigators, the incident began at the intersection of Alison Court and Delowe Drive in Atlanta, when an officer with the Atlanta Police Department noticed a white Dodge Neon that had been reported stolen. The officer reportedly attempted to pull the vehicle over, but the driver refused to stop. The chase involving the police officer and the 15-year-old driver lasted only a few blocks, but when the Ford Mustang Madison was a passenger in pulled on to Delowe Drive, the Neon collided with it. The initial collision between the Mustang and the Neon caused a chain-reaction crash with at least one other vehicle, and police say that five people, including the driver of the Neon, were transported to the hospital in unknown condition.
DUI Accident Deaths in Georgia
The teenage driver in the stolen car is facing a number of charges in the fatal Georgia car accident, including murder, theft and DUI (driving under the influence of alcohol). “When you’re running from the police and you kill someone, that’s murder here,” said Sgt. James Robillard with the Georgia State Patrol. “He’s in custody. So we’re on our way to do what we need to do with him.” Fatal car accidents, especially those involving an alleged drug driver, are taken very seriously in Georgia. DUI accidents in Georgia occur far too frequently, with 301 alcohol-impaired driving fatalities and 31 under-21 alcohol-impaired driving fatalities occurring in 2012 alone.
