14-Year-Old Student Involved in Wreck
Dispatch received a call about a serious one-vehicle car accident in Georgia at about 6:39 a.m. on November 12, and according to authorities, the collision took place in the 3900 block of Walton Way near Augusta’s Langford Middle School. Sgt. Danny Whitehead of the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office reports that Keshia Hicks was driving a black Pontiac Grand Prix, heading to the Academy of Richmond County to drop off a student, when she lost control of the vehicle, hit a mailbox and other objects, and then overturned in someone’s yard.
Injuries Resulting from Alleged DUI Accident
According to Sgt. Whitehead, two people were ejected from Hicks’ vehicle during the Georgia car accident and both were transported to Georgia Regents Medical Center, one with serious injuries and the other in critical condition. The other two occupants in the vehicle, including the 14-year-old student, were treated for injuries that did not appear to be serious. Authorities believe alcohol might have played a role in the Georgia car accident that injured Hicks and her passengers, and the charges pending against her are considerably more serious due to the fact that she had a juvenile in her vehicle at the time of the alleged DUI accident.
