A Georgia woman died last week and three others were injured, when the van the woman was a passenger in collided with a tractor-trailer at an intersection in Clinch County, near Homerville. Trooper Greg Stone of the Georgia State Patrol investigated the Georgia trucking accident, which occurred when the driver of the van ran a stop sign at a marked intersection and drove into the path of the oncoming semi-truck. Driver Ran Stop Sign at Intersection

The fatal trucking accident took place at about 6:45 p.m. on the evening of October 24, and troopers with the Georgia State Patrol responded to the two-vehicle wreck at the intersection of Ga. Highway 122 and Ga. Highway 89, about eight miles north of Homerville. According to the GSP, 24-year-old Coriya Desahe Hill was driving a 2002 Ford Windstar westbound on Ga. 122 with one passenger, 24-year-old Dajhaun C. Gaitors, when the collision occurred. Hill reportedly failed to obey a stop sign at the intersection of the two highways, and subsequently collided with a semi-truck driven by 36-year-old Rodney Lamar Young. At the time of the accident, Young was driving northbound on Ga. 89 with one passenger, 20-year-old Jimmy Tucker.

Passenger Ejected From Vehicle Dies at Scene

Following the initial impact, Hill’s Windstar rotated clockwise and the rear of her vehicle struck the rear wheels of the big-rig, causing the Windstar to travel off the east shoulder of the highway and overturn several times before coming to a stop in a ditch. The tractor-trailer traveled off the west side of the highway and came to rest down an embankment, according to the Georgia State Patrol. Once emergency crews arrived on the scene of the accident, Hill was evacuated by helicopter and transported to Shands Medical Center with injuries to her upper extremities. The driver of the semi-truck, Young, and his passenger, Tucker, were both transported by Clinch County EMS to the Mayo Clinic in Waycross for treatment. According to reports, Hill’s passenger, Gaitors, was ejected from the vehicle during the collision and died at the scene as a result of her injuries.
