The longtime pastor of a church in Rome, Georgia was killed over the weekend in a tragic head-on collision with an alleged drunk driver in Bartow County. According to reports, Reverend Nim B. Russell and his wife Julia were returning from celebrating Russell’s 23rd year as pastor at the Thankful Baptist Church when an alleged drunk driver crossed the center line on Georgia 140 and collided head-on with the Russell’s vehicle. Nim Russell was killed in the accident and his wife suffered serious injuries and was transported to Floyd Medical Center for treatment. Alleged Drunk Driver Crossed Center Line

According to the Georgia State Patrol, Nim and Julia Russell were traveling eastbound on Ga. 140 in Bartow County at about 8:30 p.m. on March 30, when a Dodge Ram pickup truck traveling in the opposite direction crossed the center line and struck Russell’s Mercedes Benz head-on. The other driver was believed to be under the influence of alcohol at the time of the collision, which took place near Big Oak Tree Road west of Adairsville, and 55-year-old Nim Russell was killed, while his wife was taken to Floyd Medical Center in Rome with serious injuries. The driver of the pickup truck was identified as 47-year-old Michelle Blum, and both she and her passenger were also transported to Floyd Medical Center for treatment following the fatal drunk driving wreck in Georgia.
